If you’ve ever wondered how much packing goes into each event I paint for, today is your lucky day! In my latest “What’s In My Bag” video, I dive into the nitty gritty of all of the tools, supplies, and creative essentials I bring to each event. Whether you’re a fellow artist, a curious bride, or someone who has been following me for a while, this breakdown will give you a closer look at everything needed to make sure I have a successful night of painting watercolor guest portraits.

Tote Bag: This is the tote with the many pockets and dividers that keeps all of my painting supplies organized during the transportation to each wedding event.

Marker bag: This bag could be any kind of small bag, and keeps all of my markers in one place so they aren’t floating around in my tote.

Light: This comes in handy if the venue I’m painting at is too dark and I need some extra light to see and so the guests can see their portraits.

Phone Stand: This is what allows me to look at the guest photo and paint the portrait simultaneously.

Extension Cord: I usually only need this if either my phone is dying or I need to use my light and there is not a close outlet nearby.

Pink Microfiber Towel: I like to use these to wipe off my brushes while I’m painting and as a barrier to try to protect my table from getting paint on it. I might have to order a new one myself since mine are looking a little rough!

Framed Portrait Examples: A lot of the time people are confused about what I’m doing at events so I like to have examples out for them to see. I also love these frames because they go perfectly with The Painted Party brand aesthetic!

Cardboard: This is 1 of the 2 things that protects the finished portrait from getting bent or ruined once given to the guest!

Plastic Sleeve: This is the second of the 2 things that protect the finished portraits!

Paper: This is my favorite paper to paint the portraits on, and I’ve tried out A LOT!

Paint: I especially love this water color palette because of the space it has for me to have my premixed colors ready to paint with!

Business cards

Clipboard: This is used to hold the sign-up sheet for the guests to write on. Also going to need to buy a new one since it was broken at my last event 🙃

Tripod: I use this to set up my DJI camera for time lapses or just regular videos for content at weddings!

Phone Charger: I think this is self explanatory, but definitely one of the essentials.

Waterbottle: I bring this thing with me everywhere. Stay hydrated folks!

Backpack: I use this to hold my iPad, Clipboard, and other little bags or supplies that don’t all fit in my tote. This bag also has many pockets which is a plus in my book!

Brushes bag: I like to keep my brushes separate from my pens and markers so they don’t get damaged

Skintone Markers: This specific brand of markers are my favorite to use when coloring skin on the portraits.

Pens: I use a lot of different pens but this brand is my favorite to use.

Brushes: This pack of brushes has almost every size one would need for painting.

Plastic Pen Holder: This cup makes it easy to grab whatever pen, marker, or brush I need when painting.

Branded Table Runner

Steamer: This is used during the setup at each event to get out the wrinkles on my table cloth.

Water Cup: Of course I need a cup of water to paint with watercolor!
